Living in Tampa Bay has its perks, especially when you’re on the hunt for family-friendly activities that everyone can enjoy. From sunny beaches to thrilling theme parks, there’s always something to do that will keep the whole family engaged and entertained. Here, we share our family's top five favorite spots in Tampa Bay that promise fun and adventure while making lasting memories.

1. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

Busch Gardens has always been a family favorite, and it's easy to see why! With a combination of thrilling rides, exotic animals, and beautiful gardens, there's something for everyone. Whether you’re screaming your lungs out on the SheiKra or feeding the giraffes in the Serengeti Plain, every corner of the park offers a new adventure.

One highlight is the park's seasonal events, like the Christmas Town or Howl-O-Scream, which adds a special flair to your visits. Plus, they offer excellent dining options that cater to every palate, making it easy for families to refuel after an exhilarating day.

2. Cypress Point Park

A beautiful hidden hybrid near the Tampa International Airport! Cypress Point Park features the best of both worlds for families - a park with lots of shade and a cozy beach with hidden pockets of paradise.

This park is a place that brings nostalgia from my childhood and will continue to be a place we visit as a family. There's plenty of things to do from exploring the long shoreline during low tide, having the kids play at the playground, take a walk on their paved trails, paddle boarding, having a grill day, and of course just relaxing at the beach while watching the planes landing.

3. Tampa Bay Street Car

No trip to Tampa Bay is complete without riding the TECO Streetcar! With various family-friendly destination options like Ybor City, Channelside, and Downtown Tampa, it’s hard to choose just one. Each stop offers endless activities, breathtaking views, and plenty of eats—ideal for a family day out.

There is so much to see throughout its 11 stops, including the Florida Aquarium and one of my personal favorites - Sparkman Wharf. Keep in mind that although it is a family favorite, strollers must close when boarding - I highly recommend planning rides during your children's wake times or to bring your favorite carrier. I'm currently using both a LILLE Baby Carrier and the GB Pocket All Terrain Stroller, which both work great for family days like these!

4. Julian B Riverfront Park

Another favorite among local families is the Riverfront Park, which has recieved numerous design and development awards. It's a beautiful 25-acre park located north of the University of Tampa. Connected to the infamous Riverwalk of Tampa, it offers an abundance of activities for the family.

To start, the park features an incredible playground designed for kiddos ages 2-12. The splash pad area is a great addition for cooling off on even the hottest days in Tampa, and with numerous picnic space, games tables, and stand-up paddle board rentals, you can easily make a day of it. It is on the outskirts of downtown Tampa, so watch out for one of their frequent events that may be happening on their massive Festival Lawn!

If that isn't enough, the park extends to a stroller-friendly path leading to the Riverwalk that connects you to Downtown Tampa. Also, we can't forget to mention the Water Taxi if you're heading out of the park and want to grab a bite in Downtown or Channelside.

5. The Glazer Children's Museum

For families who enjoy learning while having fun, the Glazer Children's Museum is the place to be! With hands-on exhibits ranging from the weather to the biggest known Triceratops skeleton, this interactive museum sparks curiosity in kids (and adults too!).

The Glazer Museum also features inovative exhibits such as a Publix market, a firehouse, as well as Water's Journey climber - which spans 2 stories of the museum! After exploring the engaging exhibits and visiting Big John, families can unwind at the museum’s café for a well-deserved snack.

Conclusion

Tampa Bay is truly a treasure trove of family-friendly activities. Each of these spots offers unique experiences filled with laughter, learning, and adventure, making them perfect for family outings! Whether you're exploring the wonders of the ocean, encountering exotic wildlife, or speeding down roller coasters, you’re bound to create memories that will last a lifetime.

No matter the age of your kids, there’s something special waiting for you at every turn in Tampa Bay. Happy adventuring!
